# Installing the ODBC jEDI on Linux/UNIX
Read Time: 4 minute(s)
As previously stated, in order to properly perform the steps defined in this section, you will need a licensed system running jBASE 5.6 or greater, and the ODBC jEDItool-set installation package. If you do not yet have a valid licensed jBASE system, and/or the ODBC jEDItool-set installation package, please contact Zumasys licensing to obtain them.
The installation package is comprised of two components, the ODBCjEDI-UNIX.jpkg and GNU_Linux_jPKGINSTALLER_1.1.0_jBASE_5.7.4_x86_64.bin; both can be removed from the target file system after successful installation. After receiving the ODBC jEDI tool-set installation package, do the following to ensure successful installation:
- Save the installation package's components to a desired location on your file-system
# Note
For this example, jBASEInstall/ will be the location our components are stored after initial download
- Run the install for the package installer (as root)
~/jBASEInstall$ sudo su
~/jBASEInstall# . /opt/jbase/CurrentVersion/jbase_env.sh
~/jBASEInstall# ./GNU_Linux_jPKGINSTALLER_1.1.0_jBASE_5.7.4_x86_64.bin
